Ransom Riggs was born in Maryland, on a farm, and grew up in Florida, where he attended Pine View School. He studied 

literature at Kenyon College and studied film at the University of Southern California.

He worked on Internet short films and blogs for Mental Floss magazine, which gave him the opportunity to work as a producer on the movie 

"Sherlock Holmes 2009."

Riggs had collected curious pictures taken on his farm and proposed to his publisher

 Quirk Books, to use these photographs to make an illustrated narrative, the resulting

 book was the Peculiar Homes of the Miss Peregrine.

On September 3, 2016, he works on a compilation of stories based on the Miss 

Peregrine saga. 

On September 30, 2016, the film "Miss Peregrine's Home for Curious Children" was

 directed by Tim Burton.
